Objective:  Students will develop debate topics and ideas for their debate on Tuesday.

 

Students will continue working on their debates in their groups.

Tuesday 1,a,b,c,d,e

 

Objective:  Students will defend their cases for the euthanization of animals

 

Today students will be split up into their groups to finally debate the euthanization of animals.  Is it a good thing or a bad thing.  Students will be graded on a rubric and this grade will be for a test grade.  

 

Warm Up:  5 minutes with your group to prepare for debate

 

(4)  The student knows the care and management requirements for a variety of small animals. The student is expected to:

(A)  discuss the physical characteristics for each species studied;

(B)  list the breeds or types of each species studied as appropriate;

(C)  discuss the habitat, housing, and equipment needs for each species studied;

(D)  compare and contrast nutritional requirements for each species studied;

(E)  explain health maintenance in each species studied, including the prevention and control of diseases and parasites;

(F)  describe and practice common methods of handling each species studied; and

Objective:  Students will be able to identify different breeds and classes of dogs.

 

We will begin our breeds of dogs unit by distrubiting the notes and vocabulary on google classroom.  We will begin this unit by creating a vocabulary quizlet and take a test over the vocabulary on Friday.

Objective:  Students will define the vocabulary words with up to 70 percent accuracy.  

 

Today we will begin discussing the different groups of dog breeds and learn to identify the herding breeds.  Once we have talked about each breed the students will use their composition notebooks to draw a picture of each breed we have discussed.  

 

Distribute the Breeds of Companion Animals: Dogs Vocabulary Handout for students to use as reference materials. Show the Breeds of Companion Animals: Dogs – Herding Dogs segment. Distribute the Crossbreed Activity and instruct students to turn it in during Class 2. Distribute the Life of a Dog Project and instruct students to turn it in during Class 5.

Objective:  Students will identify each breed of working dogs and hound dogs

 

Show the Breeds of Companion Animals: Dogs – Working Dogs and Hound Dogs segments. Remind students to use the Vocabulary Handout as references. Distribute the Breed Chart Project and instruct students to turn it in during Class 6.

 

Warm Up-  In your composition notebook draw one breed of dog we have already discussed
