Monday-  Rules and Procedure and introductions

 

Tuesday – FFA

 

(c)  Knowledge and skills.

(1)  The student describes the importance of responsible small animal ownership. The student is expected to:

(A)  explain the domestication and use of small animals;

(B)  identify the influence small animals have on society;

(C)  describe the importance of the small animal industry;

(D)  describe the obligations and benefits of small animal ownership; and

(E)  discuss the use and services provided by small animals.

 

Wednesday-

Objective:  Students will demonstrate understanding of the responsibilities necessary to own a companion animal

 

Begin a google classroom discussion by asking the students to list the responsibilities of owning a companion animal. Distribute the Benefits & Responsibilities of Owning Companion Animals Student Notes and the Benefits & Responsibilities of Owning Companion Animals Vocabulary Handout to use as a reference during the presentation. Show slides 1-16 of Benefits & Responsibilities of Owning Companion Animals.

 

Warm Up-  google classroom discussion

 

Thursday 1,a,b,c,d,e

 

Objective:  Students will demonstrate understanding of the responsibilities necessary to own a companion animal

 

Review the material discussed in class one, then continue with slides 17-25.Remind the students to complete the student notes during the presentation. Introduce the Overpopulation of Pets Project. Allow students to begin their research for the debate.

 

Warm Up-  We will review the material by placing 3 questions on the board and ask students to put the answers in their composition notebooks

 

Friday 1,a,b,c,d,e

 

Objective:  Students will develop debate topics and ideas for their debate on Wednesday of next week.

 

Students will spend the day preparing for their debate following the completion of slides 25-35.  There debate will need to be well organized.  Students will be given a worksheet to help them organize their thoughts as well as a rubric that they will be graded on.  The debate will be on Tuesday.
